2024 Mississippi Scholastic Chess Championships Schedule

We're announcing the dates and locations of our 2024 Mississippi Scholastic Chess Championships. After a 42% increase in attendance at these events last year, we're looking forward to seeing your players, school teams, and families next year.


Please see detailed event information on the web site of the Mississippi Chess Association at www.mcachess.org. We have flyers posted for each event.


We are hoping to roll out an online registration system to simplify the registration and payment process for next year's events. We'll send out an announcement when that is ready. In the meantime if you want to go ahead and get registered you are welcome to register using the process described in the flyers.

Benson Schexnaydre wins 4th State Championship, Burkes Rives sweeps U1500

Benson Schexnaydre wins 4th State Championship After finishing in a 4-way tie in 2022, top seed Benson Schexnaydre from McCall Creek took sole first place in the Mississippi State Championship, held October 21-22 in Ridgeland at C Spire with 48 players. Benson finished with 4.5/5 points, giving up only a draw in the last around to 2022 co-champion Ryan Wu. This was his 4th state championship - an impressive feat for anyone and especially a high school student.
